The blue and the green
A spiral, with alternating green, pink and blue arms, yes? No. The blue and the green are the same colour. Seriously. (via The blue and the green | Bad Astronomy | Discover Magazine)

This weekend, I...
Bade farewell to a work colleague with a few pints of Harveys Best Bitter at the Fox.
Followed up with a tasty pizza in the evening sun at Yard.
Eschewed further drinks (I had one or two too many of the aforementioned Harveys) for getting home and putting on a nice pot of Moroccan mint tea, made from a recipe an old friend once gave me, handed down from his Moroccan dwelling mother: 8 teaspoons...
Goths In Hot Weather →
What do our cheery friends do when the heat is on? Leather and rubber is not a great cooler of skin. A rather disturbing gallery.
So, for anyone who is unclear or may have misunderstood what my position is, let...

The Devil Is in the Digits: Evidence That Iran's... →
Analysis of the last two digits of each of the Iranian election counts show evidence that the numbers were fiddled. They’re not as random as they should be.

Stockholm: Day 3
Up early (ish) to complete shopping on our last day in Stockholm before ventuing to the archipelago.
Picked up a very nice and summery polo shirt from WHYRED (pr. Why red, or wired? I don’t know). Also a great shirt by Atlas Design. neon pigeon picked up some spiffing Cheap Monday jeans.
Met some friends for lunch at a charming little place: KonstnärsBar where all four of us had raw...

Stockholm: Day 2
Had a lie in, then wandered down Kungsgatan in search of interesting shopping.
Failed, largely (didn’t look hard enough to find a nice Fjällräven bag I’ve had my eye on for instance), but did enjoy mooching in the store of Paul Urbanus Bergström, aka PUB — a Stockholm institution since 1882. It’s interesting how clothes don’t seem to be separated into types...

Stockholm: Day 1
Took a leisurely and mind blowingly relaxing stroll around Skeppsholmen. Both islands. Pretty much every inch. Scorching sun (neon pigeon is sunburnt), dozing on bankside benches, listening to the water traffic create ripples at the harbour wall. Gorgeous.
Wandered around Ostermalm looking for somewhere agreeable to eat. Zink Grill won the competition for our affections and satisfied on both...
QI Series 3, Episode 10
John Sessions: Pidgin English for "piano" is: "Old man in my house; you hit him white teeth, he laugh; you hit him black teeth, he cry".
Stephen Fry: Really!
John Sessions: Yeah.
Clive Anderson: Wouldn't you be better off learning the word "piano"?
Michael Owen resorts to advertising in his efforts... →
How did I miss this on Sunday? I’d love a look at the Michael Owen brochure. I bet it’s cheesier and more self-congratulatory than Steven Gerrard’s trophy room.

Finally picked up our new coaststand from Unto This Last. And carried the thing two miles home on a rather warm Saturday afternoon.
Bought some delicious Prosciutto di Parma from Campania Gastronomia along with some nice cheese, humous, focaccia, lamb and more from Broadway Market.
Decided staying in is the new going out, so had a few friends round and served up most of what we’d bought...
Secrets of the fixture computer →
Interesting little piece about the way fixtures are generated for the football season in England. I like that Boxing Day and 28 December fixtures are manually created, and I didn’t know the Champions League final was going to be on a Saturday this next season. That’s a bit weird.

Coming Soon: Facebook Usernames →
This is going to cause all kinds of trouble in 2 days, 16 hours and 52 minutes. More interesting than ‘will I get the name i want’ will be ‘how long will Facebook’s servers be down for’. Will they take the load? I doubt it.

Had a quiet night in on Friday, and watched United 93, great film.
Headed to Broadway Market for a pancake and a mooch, then down columbia road and brick lane. Mooching all the way.
Stumbled across the Meeting of Styles Graffiti festival off Brick Lane. Some nice stuff going up, great atmosphere, and some decent music courtesy of Lazy Habits. (In hindsight, I’m kind of gutted I missed the...

Directed by Paul Greengrass (2006)
It may have taken three years, but I’m glad I finally got around to sitting through Paul Greengrass’ deeply affecting, terse and brilliant film concerning the events on the only plane hijacked on 9/11 that didn’t find it’s target.
It’s a brilliantly directed and paced docudrama, that captures the shock and subsequent...
Acer plans to add Android to the Aspire One... →
The world’s second biggest notebook manufacturer announces that it’s new netbook will be powered by Google’s Android platform rather than Windows. Given that netbooks now account for 16% of all notebook sales and growing (source), the technologies that power them are becoming more important.
Anything that breaks the Windows monopoly is good in my book. What do you think?

“Simple, smarter issue tracking to finish projects strong.” Lord knows, the world needs a good bug-tracker. This may or may not be it, but I’m willing to give it a go.
The High Line, New York - the first film commission from Wallpaper* magazine. The film concerns the redevelopment of New York’s elevated railway ‘The High Line’ into a public park. I remember finding out about this development about two or three years ago: it’s great to see it being executed. (PS: I can highly recommend going full screen on this one, the quality is superb.)

Collaborative web site for budding investigative journalists. This could be huge: it’s such a great idea to get the ‘general public’ in on the game. Bravo C4. (via Cimex)
