Stockholm: Day 2
Had a lie in, then wandered down Kungsgatan in search of interesting shopping.
Failed, largely (didn’t look hard enough to find a nice Fjällräven bag I’ve had my eye on for instance), but did enjoy mooching in the store of Paul Urbanus Bergström, aka PUB — a Stockholm institution since 1882. It’s interesting how clothes don’t seem to be separated into types (accessories and shoes are mixed with clothing) or even sexes (mens and womens all together). Everything is arranged by brand, or sometimes not arranged at all. Which is annoying when all you really want is a nice pair of trainers, because you literally have to trawl the whole store (and it’s huge) for fear of missing something.
That said, there is one great section filled with clothing from up-and-coming Swedish designers though: I particularly like the work from Our Legacy.
Headed south to meander the medieval streets of Gamla Stan, which were packed with tourists, but charming nonetheless.
Continued further south to Södermalm, where a plethora of interesting little boutiques and stores kept us busy for some time.
Put our feet up in Cafe Ljunggren, a lovely little outdoor/indoor space off-Götgatan. Beer and a cinnamon bun, perfect.
Picked up a great Our Legacy tee that I spotted earlier at PUB from a great little store: Kocksgatan 17. Great merchandising, great branding, nice clothes, and handwritten receipts! Old fashioned quality.
Picked up a nice Vasuma top from item: another nice little boutique.
Popped into Bauer, a cocktail bar/restaurant on Götgatan for a quick dark and stormy. Three hours, a dark and stormy, two beers, and a delicious veal escalope later, and then we ventured back into a bright evening.
A gentle stroll along the Gamla Stan waterfront, picking up some liquorice. Possibly more liquorice than was entirely necessary.
A coffee in Kungdtrådgården, and now, bed.
