Permanent link to 'Bottle Apostle: wines to sample, buy and adore.

Just opened on Lauriston Road, and it’s tremendous. The staff are extremely friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, and the selection of wines is superb.

I’ve been searching for a particular bottle (an Oltrepo Pavese Barbera) for years — even resorting to buying cases from Italian ebay — and of course, these guys have it in stock.

The ‘Enomatic’ wine sampling machines are such a great idea (buy an Oyster style ‘top up’ card, and use it to dispense a taste of any of the 32 wines in the machines) and have a genuinely large range of styles (and prices).

Want to know what a £300 bottle of Penfolds Grange 1998 tastes like? It’ll cost you £13.80 for a sample, but it’s cheaper than a bottle. At the other end of the scale are wines to taste for 30p, and with plenty occupying the middle ground, I can see I’m going to spend a fortune in here.'
