- Went for ‘just the one’ post-work drink at Casita in Shoreditch. Four bottles of Quilmes later…
- Had a pint and a burger on what felt like the last day of summer at The Brittania on Victoria Park. Good burgers and rough-cut chips.
- Polished off season 2 and started on season 3 of HBO’s amazing Deadwood. Disc 2 of Season 3 failed on me (big scratch) right in the middle of the fight between Dority and Captain Turner — props to Amazon for their returns policy (they’re mailing me a replacement for free before I send back the original — just been notified it’s been dispatched).
- Went to test out Jamie Oliver’s new restaurant Jamie’s Italian at Canary Wharf — I’d read some favourable reviews so thought I’d try it for myself. Review soon, but to summarise: good, not great, food but great value for money.
- Caught District 9 at the cinema, and was very pleasantly surprised at almost every aspect of it. Review soon.
- Watch the marvellous Stephen Fry and Mark Carwardine in the first episode of Last Chance to See. I’m sure Mr Fry would not be offended if I said it’s a terrible shame it’s not Douglas Adams and Carwardine, but regardless it was a really great show that does the original series and wonderful book justice.
